Areas of Up Country and North Shore have personalities of each their own. From funky surf town of Paia to vast swaths of farm land in Kula, there is no better place to enjoy life on Maui.
UP COUNTRY
From twisty roads to wide open farm land, from fog covered evenings to vast gorgeous ocean views, Up Country is unique in every way. Up here you can visit Makawao for cute shops and restaurants. Stop by Kula farms for fresh strawberries and veggies. Alii Kula Lavender for all things lavender. Ulupalakua for local wine. Golf 18 holes at Pukalani. Or drive all the way up Haleakala for a view from the top of the world. My favorite thing is driving through the clouds on the way up only to find clear skies and amazing views. There are many neighborhoods dotted throughout Up Country – different price points, different personalities, something for just about everyone.
NORTH SHORE
Paia and Haiku make up the majority of the area known as North Shore. Paia is a fun little one stop-light town with boutiques, restaurants, and the island’s best health food grocery, Mana Foods. Some of my favorite restaurants include Flatbread Pizza Co, the original Paia Fish Market, Milagros, and Cafe Mambo. There are several neighborhoods in the area that call Paiatown their hometown. From Sprecklesville to Skill Village, this might be area for you. Haiku is a little further north, and a little more untamed. Surrounded by great homes, Haiku town center has the essentials for life on the North Shore.
