Central Maui includes the areas of Kahului, Wailuku, and Maalaea. While some people might think of Costco, Target, or Queen K mall as the biggest features of Central Maui, let’s not forget Iao Valley’s lush forests and streams, Wailuku’s historical area with cute shops, restaurants, and Iao Theatre, or neighboring Kahului being the start of the scenic Hana Hwy. There’s a distinct personality to all of these areas. Old and new neighborhoods are mixed in with commercial areas. Some areas are perfect for families being super close to the Central Maui Regional Sports Complex – home to so many kids’ sporting events; other areas are perfect for families, individuals, empty-nesters, retirees – we can find your spot in Central Maui.
There’s an ease to living in this area. For one thing, two of the nicest (and newest) grocery stores border Wailuku. Whole Foods is in the heart of Kahului. And for water lovers, Maalaea harbor is home to some of the best water tour operators on the island. This part of the island also tends to be more affordable than tourist-rich areas of South and West Maui.
To begin your search for the perfect home, check out my property search feature. From Wailuku Heights to Kehalani, or Central Kahului to Maalaea harbor, we can find the place you want to call home. Please note that Maalaea is mainly condos (and a lot of them are leasehold). Wailuku and Kahului are a mixture of single family homes and condos.
